The Embraer ERJ 170 was the first aircraft developed as part of Embraer's E-Jet family and remains one of the most popular regional airliners in commercial service.
Its four-abreast 2+2 cabin layout gives every passenger either a window or aisle seat, with no middle seats.
Measuring 2.74 m wide, 2.00 m high and 19.43 m long, the cabin offers a level of comfort more commonly associated with larger narrow-body aircraft. The spacious interior provides generous headroom and ample personal space throughout the cabin.
The aircraft also features a 14.4 m³ baggage compartment capable of accommodating standard luggage alongside sports equipment, exhibition material or professional equipment, subject to weight and loading limitations.
Powered by two General Electric CF34-8E turbofan engines, the Embraer ERJ 170 cruises at 870 km/h (Mach 0.82) with a maximum range of 3,889 km (2,100 nautical miles). Honeywell Primus Epic avionics and a fly-by-wire flight control system contribute to reliable and efficient regional operations.
Depending on the operator, the aircraft can be configured with up to 80 seats in a single-class layout or fewer seats in a more spacious two-class configuration.

The aircraft completed its first flight on 19 February 2002 in São José dos Campos, Brazil. Following certification by ANAC, the FAA and EASA, it entered commercial service on 17 March 2004 with LOT Polish Airlines on flights between Warsaw and Vienna.
Since then, more than 1,700 aircraft from the E-Jet family have been delivered worldwide. The ERJ 170's fuselage and cabin design later formed the foundation of the Embraer 175, 190 and 195, before evolving into today's E2 generation.
