The Airbus A330 is a twin-engine, twin-aisle long-haul aircraft available in two main versions. The shorter A330-200 typically seats 220–260 passengers and has a range of approximately 15,090 km, according to Airbus. The longer A330-300 accommodates 250–290 passengers in three classes and flies approximately 11,750 km.
For charter flights, the A330 is particularly suited to taking 250–300 passengers on intercontinental journeys to Africa, the Americas or Asia. It sits between single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A321 and larger wide-body jets such as the Airbus A350.
At Artheau Aviation, we arrange A330 charters for long-haul corporate events, incentive trips and sports travel. We source available aircraft, compare qualified operators and coordinate every stage of your group charter, from departure to return.

A330-200, according to the operator
An A330 charter is priced for the entire aircraft, regardless of how many seats are occupied. The quotation depends on flight time, aircraft positioning, airport charges, ground handling and the arrangements between outbound and return flights. For longer stays, we compare keeping the aircraft on the ground with releasing it for other assignments.
For groups of 250–300, an A330 can avoid the need for two single-aisle aircraft and a technical stop. We also compare the A340 and A350, as availability on your dates often determines the best option.
We prepare each tailored quotation after consulting several operators. Before confirmation, we explain what is included and which operational factors could affect the final price.
The A330 is a widely used long-haul wide-body aircraft for group charter operations.
250–300 passengers on one intercontinental flight, depending on version and layout.
5.26 m cabin width, according to Airbus, supporting efficient boarding and onboard service.
Many aircraft offer business and premium cabins for executives or invited guests.
Around 130 m³ on one A330-200, according to its operator, for luggage and equipment.
Its limitations: for groups significantly exceeding 300 passengers, or demanding flights at maximum payload, an Airbus A350 or Boeing 777 may be more suitable.
Airbus quotes approximately 15,090 km for the A330-200 and 11,750 km for the A330-300. These are maximum figures; actual range decreases with a full passenger load. The A330-200 used for our Cape Town mission was quoted by its operator at 15,500 km maximum, but approximately 10,740 km at maximum passenger capacity.
From Paris Charles de Gaulle, the A330 can fly nonstop to Montreal (approximately 5,520 km), New York (5,830 km), Johannesburg (8,740 km) or Cape Town (9,360 km), depending on aircraft version and payload. We obtain operational confirmation from the airline for each itinerary.

According to Airbus, the A330-200 typically seats 220–260 passengers, with up to 406 in high-density layouts. The A330-300 accommodates 250–290 passengers in three classes and up to 440 at maximum capacity. Actual charter seating depends on the available aircraft: our Cape Town A330-200 had 268 business, premium economy and economy seats combined.
The twin-aisle cabin generally has eight economy seats per row (2-4-2). Every passenger sits by a window or aisle, or just one seat away from the aisle. We confirm the exact seating plan in each proposal.
The A330-200 chartered for Cape Town had approximately 130 m³ of hold space, according to its operator. This accommodates group luggage for longer stays, subject to payload restrictions. For sports teams or events carrying equipment, we check permitted weight and volume with the operator.
| Charter mission | A330 suitability | Our assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Long-haul corporate event or incentive trip | Highly suitable | 250–300 participants travelling to Africa, the Americas or Asia, nonstop where feasible. |
| Sports team or supporter travel | Highly suitable | Seating and baggage space for the team, staff and supporters on long routes. |
| Outbound and return flights several days apart | Suitable | The aircraft may undertake other flights between sectors, limiting ground-time costs. |
| Fewer than 200 passengers | Often oversized | An Airbus A321 LR or XLR may suffice on certain routes. |
| Over 300 passengers on one flight | Requires assessment | An A350 or 777-300ER offers more seats. |

In February 2025, a construction company planned an incentive trip and safari in South Africa. Working alongside its communications agency, we proposed a nonstop Airbus A330 flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Cape Town, returning from Johannesburg approximately ten days later.
The brief required a nonstop Paris–Cape Town flight of approximately 9,360 km. Relatively few aircraft can meet that requirement with a full passenger load.
We developed the flight proposal with the communications agency, incorporating onboard comfort and the wider itinerary.
We selected an A330-200 introduced into its operator’s service in 2023. Its 268 seats comprised 18 business-class, 36 premium-economy and 214 economy seats, all with individual screens. The operator quoted a maximum range of approximately 15,500 km, although the range with a full passenger load required separate operational confirmation.
Its performance enabled the planned nonstop flight, while fuel efficiency was another consideration on a journey of this length.
The event centred on recognition and a safari experience. Together with the operator, we developed bespoke onboard catering to reflect that theme.
The flight became the opening experience of the trip, rather than simply a means of transport.
The return flight departed Johannesburg about ten days later using the same aircraft. In the meantime, the A330 operated other services instead of remaining parked for the entire stay.
Our team was on site to supervise departure, oversee arrival in Cape Town and coordinate the return from Johannesburg.
This mission illustrates the benefits of chartering a wide-body aircraft for a long-haul incentive trip: a nonstop flight exceeding 9,000 km, the entire group travelling together, and different departure points for the outbound and return journeys.
Tell us your route, dates, passenger count and baggage requirements. Mention if outbound and return flights use different cities.
We consult several operators, check range, aircraft availability and slots, then present one or more options.
Once confirmed, we coordinate operators, airports, passenger lists and transfers. Your main contact remains available until the group returns.
We do more than find an available aircraft. From your first request to landing, our teams coordinate every stage of your charter.
Your dedicated broker remains your main point of contact throughout your journey, from the initial request to your arrival.
We compare aircraft and certified operators to recommend the solution best suited to your itinerary, requirements and budget.
Once your flight is confirmed, our Flight Preparation team coordinates the operational details required for a smooth journey.
The team oversees flight logistics, ground handling, catering, passenger requirements and other arrangements before departure.
Every flight is operated by a certified aircraft operator holding the licences and approvals required for the mission.
We review operators, aircraft and operational requirements to check that each proposed solution meets our safety and compliance standards.
Pricing is quoted for the entire aircraft. It depends on flight time, aircraft positioning, airport charges and how the outbound and return flights are organised.
Airbus lists 220–260 typical seats for the A330-200 and 250–290 in three classes for the A330-300, with maximum capacities of 406 and 440 respectively. We confirm the actual layout in every proposal.
The A330-200 is shorter but offers greater range (approximately 15,090 km versus 11,750 km, according to Airbus). The A330-300 carries more passengers.
Yes, depending on aircraft version and payload. We arranged a nonstop Paris–Cape Town flight of approximately 9,360 km using a fully occupied A330-200.
The A350 is newer and larger. The A330 is more established in the charter market; the best choice depends heavily on aircraft availability for your dates.
Not necessarily. On longer stays, it may operate other flights before returning to collect the group, reducing ground-time costs.
As early as possible: fewer wide-body aircraft are available for charter than single-aisle aircraft.
From private jet charters to commercial group flights and dedicated cargo operations, we deliver tailored air solutions for every mission, anywhere in the world.
