The Airbus A320 is the benchmark single-aisle aircraft in the family that bears its name. It comes in two generations: the A320ceo, seating 140 to 180 passengers, and the A320neo, seating 150 to 194 according to Airbus. The manufacturer states that the A320neo uses at least 20% less fuel per seat than the previous generation.
For charter flights, the A320 carries 150 to 180 people on a single service across Europe, to North Africa or to island destinations. It sits between the shorter Airbus A319 and the longer Airbus A321, and competes directly with the Boeing 737-800.
At Artheau Aviation, we charter the A320 for corporate seminars, incentive trips, sports teams and passenger groups, including cruise guests travelling to their embarkation port. We identify available aircraft, compare operators and coordinate each charter flight.

Total usable volume, according to Airbus
The charter price of an A320 covers the entire aircraft, regardless of how many seats are occupied. It depends on flight time, aircraft positioning, airport charges, ground handling and any time spent waiting at the destination. For a one-way flight, such as transporting passengers to a cruise port, we also account for the aircraft’s empty return leg or seek an operator already based nearby.
On a per-seat basis, a well-filled A320 can be cost-effective for groups of 150 to 180 people. We compare its specifications, price and availability with those of the A321 and Boeing 737-800.
Every proposal is individually quoted after we consult several operators. We explain which services are included and which factors may affect the final price before you confirm.
The A320 is among the most widely operated airliners in Europe, making it easier to source an aircraft for a large group.
140 to 180 seats on the A320ceo and up to 194 on the A320neo according to Airbus: a large group can travel together on one aircraft.
Many airlines and operators fly the A320 across Europe, broadening the choice of available aircraft.
Approximately 37.4 m³ of hold space according to Airbus, accommodating group baggage within payload limits.
According to Airbus, the A320neo uses at least 20% less fuel per seat than the previous generation.
Its limitation: for more than approximately 180 passengers, or journeys exceeding 4,000 km with a full aircraft, an Airbus A321 or a wide-body airliner may be more suitable.
Airbus quotes a range of approximately 6,200 km for the Sharklet-equipped A320ceo and 6,300 km for the A320neo. These are maximum figures: the actual distance achievable is shorter with a full passenger load and group baggage. For every charter, we ask the operator to confirm the route based on aircraft version, payload, winds and alternate-airport requirements.
From Paris Charles de Gaulle, the A320 can fly nonstop to Oslo (approximately 1,360 km), Lisbon (1,470 km), Athens (2,110 km), Istanbul (2,210 km) or Tenerife South (2,850 km). Tel Aviv, approximately 3,280 km away, remains within reach depending on the payload.
For longer journeys with a full group and substantial baggage, we may instead recommend an Airbus A321 LR or XLR, or a wide-body aircraft.

According to Airbus, the A320ceo carries 140 to 170 passengers in a two-class layout and up to 180 in a single class. The A320neo accommodates 150 to 180 in two classes and up to 194 in a high-density layout. Aircraft offered for charter commonly have 174 to 186 seats; we confirm the exact count and cabin plan in every proposal.
The cabin has six seats per row, three on each side of the aisle, and measures 3.70 m wide according to Airbus. Some airlines offer business-class rows at the front, suitable for executives or invited guests.
Airbus quotes approximately 37.4 m³ of usable baggage-hold volume for the A320 (forward, aft and bulk compartments). This can accommodate a full group’s baggage, including for longer stays, within the aircraft’s payload limits. For sports teams or events involving equipment, we confirm permissible volume and weight with the operator before selecting the aircraft.
| Charter mission | A320 suitability | Our assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate seminar, incentive trip or convention | Highly suitable | 150 to 180 participants can travel to Europe, North Africa or island destinations at chosen times. |
| Cruise passenger transfers | Highly suitable | A dedicated flight brings all guests to the embarkation port on the same day. |
| Supporter or sports team travel | Suitable | Seating and baggage-hold capacity can accommodate supporters or a team and its equipment. |
| Events with several hundred attendees | Suitable | Multiple A320 aircraft departing from different cities can reduce participants’ ground travel. |
| Group of fewer than 130 passengers | Often oversized | An Airbus A319 or CRJ1000 provides capacity closer to the requirement. |
| More than 190 passengers on one flight | Requires assessment | An Airbus A321 can accommodate the group on a single aircraft. |

For one-way flights, we arrange aircraft positioning and return. We coordinate group check-in and baggage handling with the airport.
Same family, smaller: A319. Larger: A321. Direct competitors: Boeing 737-800 or 737 MAX.
In September 2025, a cruise line contacted us about a special Northern European cruise departing from Oslo and ending in Stockholm. All passengers were to depart from Barcelona to join the ship in Oslo. We arranged a dedicated one-way flight on an Airbus A320.
The cruise operator wanted to bring all passengers together and transport them to the departure port on the same day. A charter flight avoided connections and staggered arrivals on multiple scheduled services.
The programme required only an outbound flight: the aircraft had to reach Oslo in time for passengers to board the ship.
For a group of this size travelling on a cruise, baggage handling was a key consideration. We coordinated it with Barcelona Airport, from check-in through loading into the hold.
The passenger welcome was customised: screens featuring the cruise line’s branding greeted travellers at check-in, allowing the experience to begin at the airport.
An Artheau Aviation team member supervised the flight, from check-in in Barcelona through arrival in Oslo.
Their presence helped manage requests on site, in coordination with the operator, airport and cruise line teams.
This mission demonstrates the value of chartering an airliner for cruise travel: a dedicated flight bringing all guests to the port on the same day, a branded welcome and end-to-end coordination by one air charter broker.
Tell us your route, dates, passenger count and baggage requirements. Specify whether you need a one-way or return flight and any welcome or branding preferences.
We consult several operators, check aircraft and slot availability, and present one or more options detailing the services included.
After confirmation, we coordinate operators, airports, passenger manifests and transfers. Your main contact remains available until the group arrives.
We do more than find an available aircraft. From your first request to landing, our teams coordinate every stage of your charter.
Your dedicated broker remains your main point of contact throughout your journey, from the initial request to your arrival.
We compare aircraft and certified operators to recommend the solution best suited to your itinerary, requirements and budget.
Once your flight is confirmed, our Flight Preparation team coordinates the operational details required for a smooth journey.
The team oversees flight logistics, ground handling, catering, passenger requirements and other arrangements before departure.
Every flight is operated by a certified aircraft operator holding the licences and approvals required for the mission.
We review operators, aircraft and operational requirements to check that each proposed solution meets our safety and compliance standards.
Pricing is provided on request for the entire aircraft. It depends on flight time, positioning, airport charges, days spent at the destination and any empty return flight. We detail the services before confirmation.
According to Airbus, 140 to 180 on the A320ceo and 150 to 194 on the A320neo, depending on the configuration. We confirm the exact seat count in every proposal.
Both have the same dimensions. The A320neo has newer-generation engines, uses at least 20% less fuel per seat according to Airbus, and can accommodate slightly more passengers. The A320ceo remains widely used in the charter market.
These are similar-sized single-aisle aircraft. The decision mainly depends on availability for your dates, the proposed configuration and price; we compare both for each request.
Yes. For travel to a cruise port or event, the quote accounts for aircraft repositioning or an operator already based nearby. This was the arrangement we organised between Barcelona and Oslo in 2025.
