Cannes accounts for a significant share of business aviation traffic on the Côte d'Azur, driven by one of the densest events calendars in Europe. The Cannes Film Festival in May, MIPIM in March, Cannes Lions in June, the Yachting Festival in September and the proximity of the Monaco Grand Prix create recurring activity peaks where slots go quickly and parking fills up fast.
Outside these event windows, Cannes remains a busy airfield year-round. Executives, family offices and the yachting community use Cannes Mandelieu for short stays between La Croisette, Cap d'Antibes, the Provence wine estates and the hillside properties of the hinterland. Most missions fit into 24 to 72 hours, often as round trips from Paris, Geneva or London.
The airfield is entirely dedicated to private aviation, which keeps processing times smooth outside event peaks. However, Cannes Mandelieu is limited to aircraft under 35 tonnes and operates mainly during the day (08:00 to 20:00, with extended hours in peak season). For heavy jets, night flights or intercontinental operations, the mission shifts to Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE/LFMN), 25 to 40 minutes by road.
Choosing between Cannes Mandelieu and Nice is part of the broker's job. Depending on the available aircraft, the preferred time slot, the jet category and the operational constraints at the time, we direct the mission to whichever airfield best fits the requirement.
As an independent broker, Artheau Aviation does not operate its own fleet. We compare the charter market, select the actually available aircraft best suited to your route, passenger count and budget, then coordinate the operation directly with the chosen operator. In practice: we have no interest in steering you towards one aircraft type over another — we simply pick the one that fits the mission.
Which airports should you favour to reach Cannes by private jet?

Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ/LFMD)
Located 5 km from the city centre, Cannes Mandelieu is the second-largest business aviation airport in France, entirely dedicated to private flights. The airfield handles no commercial traffic, which keeps arrival and departure processing times short.
Two runways accommodate light and midsize jets within the regulatory 35-tonne limit. Operations generally run from 08:00 to 20:00, with possible extensions during peak season. All movements require prior permission (PPR).
During the Film Festival, MIPIM and Cannes Lions, activity becomes very intense. Slots go quickly, parking is limited, and requests need to be filed in advance. Outside these peaks, the airfield remains fluid with FBOs providing swift reception and expedited customs clearance.
Allow 5 to 10 minutes to La Croisette and the Palais des Festivals, 15 minutes to Cap d'Antibes, 25 to 40 minutes to central Nice. A portion of the clientele then continues on to Monaco or Saint-Tropez depending on their stay.

Which aircraft category should you choose for Cannes?
The choice of aircraft for Cannes Mandelieu comes down to three factors: distance, passenger count and the operational constraints specific to the airfield. The 35-tonne ceiling and runway length naturally favour Light Jets, Super Light Jets and Midsize Jets, while Heavy Jets are repositioned through Nice Côte d'Azur.
The Praetor 600 remains the most frequently chartered aircraft from the Côte d'Azur. Its capacity, short-runway performance and generous cabin volume make it a reference choice for the majority of missions, whether a swift rotation to London or a summer leg towards the Greek islands.
For short and intra-European routes (Paris, Geneva, London, Milan), the Citation CJ2+ or Phenom 300 combine responsiveness, controlled cost and cabin comfort. For regional or longer flights, the Citation XLS brings additional cabin volume and extended range, well suited to connections towards Northern Europe or the near Middle East.
For long-haul flights (Dubai, New York, Los Angeles), the mission is repositioned via Nice with Gulfstream G650, Global 6000 or equivalent, to access the appropriate technical infrastructure. Each flight is tailored to your schedule, cabin preferences and the operational constraints specific to Cannes Mandelieu.
