Paris is by far the leading business aviation hub in continental Europe. Economic capital, political capital, cultural capital, home to major corporate headquarters, a global financial center, host city for international events: private flight demand stays strong all year, both inbound and outbound. Le Bourget handles the bulk of the movements, while Orly and Charles-de-Gaulle take over when the mission calls for it.

On the business side, the city hosts CAC 40 headquarters, major banks, law and consulting firms, family offices, and the core of the European M&A scene. Most trips fit into a same-day round trip or a 48 to 72 hour window. Private aviation is mainly there to keep the agenda intact when commercial flights cannot, or to line up several meetings in one day across Paris, Geneva, London and Frankfurt.

The events calendar weighs heavily on Le Bourget slots. Fashion Weeks in March and September fill the field for ten straight days. Roland-Garros in late May and early June, the Paris Air Show every odd year in June (which closes Le Bourget to business aviation for a full week), VivaTech in June, Maison&Objet, large diplomatic summits: those weeks tighten availability, and slots go quickly.

On the heritage and lifestyle side, Paris is also a destination in its own right. Golden Triangle palaces, private dinners, Christie's and Sotheby's auctions, premieres and galas attract an international clientele who often mix business meetings with a cultural stay. Castles along the Seine valley or around Chantilly, 30 to 45 minutes from Paris, work well as a one or two night extension.

Three airports to know. Paris-Le Bourget (LBG/LFPB), 12 km north-east of the center, is the default: field entirely dedicated to business aviation, 24/7 operations with night noise restrictions, premium FBOs. Orly (ORY/LFPO), 14 km south, takes over when Le Bourget is saturated or when the operator prefers Orly. Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG/LFPG), 25 to 30 km north-east, mostly handles very long-range heavy jets or repositioning flights.

As an independent broker, Artheau Aviation does not own or operate aircraft. We compare the charter market, select the most suitable available aircraft for your route, your passenger count and your budget through our operator network, then coordinate the operation directly. In practice: we have no incentive to push a Light Jet over a Long Range, we book the aircraft that fits the mission.

The Main Airports in Paris for Business Aviation

Paris-Le Bourget Airport (LBG/LFPB)

Paris-Le Bourget is, in practice, the leading business aviation airport in Europe. Entirely dedicated to private flights, located around 12 km north-east of the city center, it handles the bulk of business movements over Paris. Several premium FBOs share the field, with ground teams running 24/7 and expedited handling on arrival and departure.

The field has three runways, ranging from 1,845 to 3,000 meters for the main one, and accommodates every aircraft category from Very Light Jet to intercontinental Long Range. VIP lounges, concierge, on-site customs and immigration: the ground chain is calibrated for smooth arrivals and departures, even in high season. Provided requests come in early on peak weeks, because slots go quickly (Fashion Week, Roland-Garros, summits).

Le Bourget operates 24/7 but with night noise restrictions: older aircraft are barred from movements at night, and night slots stay limited. Transfers to the business districts (La Defense, Champs-Elysees, Golden Triangle) run 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. That proximity, plus operational flexibility, is what makes Le Bourget the default choice for most missions to Paris.

Paris-Orly Airport (ORY/LFPO)

Paris-Orly Airport is a mixed commercial and business aviation airport, located 14 km south of the city center. We switch to it in two main cases: when Le Bourget is saturated on a busy period (Fashion Week, trade shows, Roland-Garros final), or when the chartered operator is based at Orly for slot or repositioning reasons.

Infrastructure is sized for scheduled traffic, so private flight slots can be tighter than at Le Bourget. The field still handles every aircraft category, from Light Jet to Long Range, with a strict night curfew (roughly 23:30 to 06:15) that blocks almost all movements during those hours, regardless of aircraft type.

Allow 25 to 40 minutes of transfer to the Champs-Elysees or La Defense depending on traffic. We use Orly mainly as an operational backup or when the available aircraft is already positioned there. For a business mission that depends on punctuality and smooth ground flow, we favor Le Bourget whenever possible.

Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (CDG/LFPG)

Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport is the capital's international hub, 25 to 30 km north-east of the center. Built for long-haul scheduled traffic, it can accommodate private jets in specific cases: heavy jet arrivals from very long distances, aircraft repositioning, or coordination with a connecting commercial flight.

The infrastructure obviously has no limit on runway length or capacity for the heaviest long-range aircraft, and the field operates 24/7 with no curfew. In return, private flights sit below scheduled traffic in slot priority, and landing, parking and handling fees run higher than at a dedicated field like Le Bourget.

Allow 35 to 60 minutes of transfer to central Paris depending on traffic, knowing that Le Bourget sits 15 minutes from Charles-de-Gaulle if the mission allows the switch. For most private flights to Paris, we recommend Le Bourget: flexibility, permanent access and service calibrated for business aviation.

Which aircraft category for Paris?

The right aircraft for Paris comes down to three factors: the route, the passenger count, and the operational constraints (Le Bourget slot, operator curfews, baggage, repositioning). The broker's job is to cross-check those parameters against actual charter market availability on the day, and to balance the available aircraft categories.

On short routes (Geneva, London, Brussels, Frankfurt, Zurich), the usual pick is a Citation CJ3+ or a Phenom 300. Flight time 1h00 to 1h30, 6 to 8 passengers, a solid cost-to-cabin ratio. Those airframes are plentiful on the European market, so positioning into Le Bourget stays straightforward, even on short notice.

Medium routes (Madrid, Rome, Athens, Stockholm) move into Midsize territory: Citation XLS+, Hawker 900XP, 8 passengers, 2h00 to 2h30 flight time. More cabin space, more range, no tech stop. The XLS stays the best-seller out of Paris, exactly for this kind of mission profile.

For long-haul missions (Dubai, New York, Johannesburg, Singapore), we move to Long Range jets: Gulfstream G650, Global 7500, 14 to 16 passengers, configurable cabin with office area, rest area and satellite connectivity. That is also where the operator may shift from Le Bourget to Charles-de-Gaulle, depending on aircraft weight and fuel load.

Because we do not run our own fleet, we are not tied to selling any one aircraft. We pick whichever airframe is actually available on your slot at the best conditions, balancing cost, cabin, range and repositioning.

FAQ

What is the best airport to charter a private jet in Paris?

In the vast majority of cases, it is Paris-Le Bourget (LBG/LFPB). It is the field entirely dedicated to business aviation, 12 km from the city center, with premium FBOs and 24/7 operations (subject to night noise restrictions).

Allow 25 to 40 minutes to reach the Champs-Elysees, La Defense or the Golden Triangle depending on traffic. Orly (ORY) serves as a backup when Le Bourget saturates, and Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) mainly handles very long-range heavy jets or repositioning flights.

How much does a private jet from Geneva to Paris cost?

A Geneva-Paris (1h00 flight time) varies with aircraft category. On a Light Jet (Citation CJ3+, 6 passengers), prices start around EUR 8,500. On a Super Light Jet (Phenom 300, 8 passengers), figure on EUR 11,000.

If you want more cabin space, a Midsize Jet (Citation XLS+, 8 passengers) sits around EUR 14,500. Those rates include handling, navigation and ground services at Le Bourget. They are orders of magnitude we tune to your schedule, the day's availability and your cabin preferences through our indicative pricing.

Can aircraft land at Paris-Le Bourget (LBG/LFPB) at night?

Yes, night landings are authorized at Le Bourget, but with noise restrictions that weigh on departures and on certain aircraft types. In practice, between 22:00 and 06:00, only the quietest aircraft (notably turboprops and recent jets meeting the noise standards) are cleared for takeoff.

Our teams help you select an aircraft and a slot that comply with local rules. If the mission forces a tight overnight rotation, we assess feasibility mission by mission, and may switch to Charles-de-Gaulle, which operates 24/7 with no curfew. Contact: executive@flyaa.eu.
