Airbus A220-300: capacity, range and charter

The Airbus A220-300 is a single-aisle airliner seating 120 to 160 passengers, originally developed by Bombardier as the CS300. Airbus quotes a range of approximately 6,300 km and 25% lower fuel consumption per seat than previous-generation aircraft. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1500G-family engines.

For charter flights, the A220-300 meets a specific requirement: carrying 120 to 150 passengers in a modern aircraft with a wider cabin than a regional jet. It sits between the CRJ1000 or Embraer 170 and larger single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A320.

At Artheau Aviation, we charter this aircraft for seminars, corporate travel and sports team transport. We identify available aircraft, compare operators and coordinate each charter flight, from departure through to your group’s return.

How much does it cost to charter an Airbus A220-300?

Chartering an Airbus A220-300 gives your group exclusive use of the aircraft, with a flight schedule tailored to your specific requirements. Unlike purchasing individual airline tickets, the charter price covers the entire aircraft rather than the number of passengers on board.

Every flight comes with its own requirements. Destination, departure times, length of stay, aircraft availability and onboard services all play a role in determining the final cost. Our team also evaluates different operational options to identify the most cost-effective solution for your journey.

Well suited to groups of 120 to 150 passengers, the A220-300 is an attractive option for corporate travel, special events and dedicated group flights. Depending on your itinerary and travel dates, alternative aircraft such as the Airbus A319 or Bombardier CRJ1000 may also be considered.

As an air charter broker, Artheau Aviation works with an extensive network of airline partners to source available aircraft and negotiate competitive charter solutions tailored to your needs.

Why charter an Airbus A220-300?

The A220-300 combines the capacity of a smaller airliner with a modern cabin that suits corporate travel.

120 to 160 passengers

Capacity suited to medium-sized groups without the unused seats of a larger aircraft.

A wide, modern cabin

3.28 m wide according to Airbus, with five seats per row: more room than a regional jet.

A fuel-efficient aircraft

According to Airbus, 25% less fuel consumption and CO₂ per seat than previous-generation aircraft.

A comfortable range

Approximately 6,300 km according to Airbus: destinations throughout Europe are reachable nonstop from France.

Its limitation: the A220-300 is less common in the charter market than the A320 or 737-800. For groups exceeding 160 passengers, an Airbus A320 or A321 may be more suitable.

What is the range of the Airbus A220-300?

Airbus quotes a range of approximately 6,300 km for the A220-300. This is a maximum figure: with a full passenger load and group baggage, the actual range is shorter. For every charter, we ask the operator to confirm the route based on payload, winds and the required alternate airport.

From Paris Charles de Gaulle, the A220-300 can fly nonstop to Oslo (approximately 1,360 km), Lisbon (approximately 1,470 km), Athens (approximately 2,110 km), Reykjavik (approximately 2,240 km) or Tenerife South (approximately 2,850 km). Copenhagen is approximately 1,560 km from Toulouse.

For a longer route with a full group and substantial baggage, we may instead recommend an Airbus A321 LR or XLR, or a wide-body aircraft.

How many passengers can an Airbus A220-300 carry?

According to Airbus, the A220-300 carries 120 to 150 passengers in a two-class layout and up to 160 in a high-density configuration. The exact capacity depends on the available aircraft; we confirm it with the cabin layout in every proposal.

According to Airbus, the cabin is 3.28 m wide. Some airlines offer business-class seating at the front, suitable for executives or guests.

How much baggage can it carry?

Airbus lists approximately 27.5 m³ of usable hold space for the A220-300, divided between forward and aft compartments. This can accommodate group baggage for a multi-day stay, subject to payload limits. For sports teams or events involving equipment, we verify permitted baggage volume and weight with the operator before confirming the aircraft.

Real mission: an Airbus A220-300 for a corporate trip carrying 152 employees from Toulouse to Copenhagen

In June 2026, a French company wanted to reward its 152 employees for strong performance over recent years. It brought the team together in Toulouse for a four-day seminar in Copenhagen. We arranged the outbound and return flights on an Airbus A220-300.

  1. 1

A trip to reward the teams

The company wanted the seminar to be a memorable experience for its employees. All participants gathered at Toulouse-Blagnac for a shared departure to Copenhagen.

The flight formed part of the programme and needed to reflect the company’s identity and the spirit of the trip.

  2. 2

The A220-300 between Toulouse and Copenhagen

The route is approximately 1,560 km, well within the A220-300’s range. With 152 passengers, the group travelled together on one modern aircraft with capacity suited to its needs.

We selected the aircraft and operator, then aligned flight times with the seminar schedule.

  3. 3

A branded cabin and personalised announcements

The aircraft headrest covers were customised with the company’s branding. The onboard announcements were also tailored to the trip.

During the flight, the company’s CEO addressed the employees. We arranged this moment with the operator and cabin crew.

  4. 4

    The return coordinated on site

After arriving in Copenhagen, the aircraft departed and returned four days later for the return flight. This avoided keeping the aircraft on the ground throughout the seminar.

An Artheau Aviation team member stayed at the destination during the event to prepare the return flight with the operator and Copenhagen Airport.

This mission demonstrates the value of aircraft charter for a corporate seminar: a shared departure, a branded flight experience and a return journey coordinated on site by our team.

Frequently asked questions about chartering an Airbus A220-300

How much does it cost to charter an A220-300?

Pricing is quoted for the entire aircraft. It depends on flight time, aircraft positioning, airport charges and the arrangements between outbound and return flights. We explain the included services before confirmation.

How many passengers can an A220-300 carry?

According to Airbus, 120 to 150 in two classes and up to 160 in a high-density layout. We confirm the configuration in every proposal.

What is the difference between the A220 and the CSeries?

They are the same aircraft family. Originally developed by Bombardier as the CSeries, it was renamed A220 after Airbus took over the programme. The CS300 became the A220-300.

Should you choose an A220-300 or an A319?

Their capacities are similar. According to Airbus, the A220-300 is newer and more fuel-efficient, while the A319 is more widely available. The decision mainly depends on aircraft availability for your dates.

What happens to the aircraft during a multi-day stay?

Depending on the schedule, it either remains at the destination or departs and returns for the homebound flight. We compare both options, as we did for the 2026 Toulouse–Copenhagen seminar.

Can the flight be customised?

Yes, subject to the operator’s approval: branded headrest covers, tailored announcements and a company executive addressing passengers onboard. Allow two to three weeks for preparation.

How far in advance should you book?

As early as possible: the A220-300 is less common than the A320 on the charter market. Early enquiries allow us to compare more operators.
